Fashion etching and aquatint

This selection of prints holds a special significance, as they were brought to life during a printmaking module at NCAD in 2020. This module served as an introduction to the realms of aquatint and copper plate etching, sparking a profound love for the printmaking process.

Intriguingly challenged with the theme of "memory," I chose to interpret it through the lens of movement and the recollections of previously worn outfits. Being an avid fan of fashion illustration, there was the opportunity to harness this printmaking technique to give life to this exploration.

The result is a compelling fusion of artistry and concept, where the delicacy of copper plate etching and aquatint breathe life into the memories of movement and fashion. These prints, skillfully capture the essence of fleeting moments, intertwining visual storytelling with the connection to past experiences.

This printmaking module proved to be a transformative journey, igniting a passion for the process and opening up new horizons for creative expression. As these prints stand as a testament to growth and exploration during this period, they serve as cherished memories of both artistic discovery and personal connection to the theme of movement and fashion.
